Kari is an author, illustrator, travel writer, essential oil explorer, voice over artist, publisher, a proud mum, and polar nut.
She has travelled widely in the Polar Regions – her first years were spent living with a remote tribe of Inuit in Northwest Greenland (her father was polar explorer Sir Wally Herbert). She has spent months in the Himalayas, ventured into the Empty Quarter of the deserts of Oman, ridden through the Grand Canyon and experienced, briefly, what it is like to be a Geisha in Japan.
As well as writing, creating illustrations, presenting and speaking, Kari and her husband Huw take adventurous folk to some wild and remote places, such as Antarctica and the North Pole. Home, though, is a little place tucked away by the sea with their daughter Nell.
In 2007 Kari and Huw started a small indie publishing company called Polarworld. Together they produce gorgeous, award-winning illustrated books on photography and exploration.
All Polarworld's titles have been co-published in numerous languages with some of the world’s most respected publishers. Kari and Huw also act as consultants for media and fashion companies and produce bespoke publications for well-known multi-national companies.
